Q & A ~ My Stampin’ Write Markers Have Dried Out. Any Suggestions?

Real Red Stampin' Write Marker #100052

Q: My Stampin' Write Markers aren't as juicy as they once were. Do you have any tips to bring them back?

A: The Stampin' Write Markers are hollow inside and that is were the ink is held. As you use your Stampin' Write Markers, you will use up the ink inside and eventually they won't be as wet when you use them. Use the following Storage Tips to prolong their use.

Storage Tips:
1) If you store your Stampin' Write Markers upright then the other tip doesn't have any ink. If that is the tip that you want to use, there won't be any ink, so it will appear that the Stampin' Write Marker has dried out. I suggest to store your Stampin' Write Markers laying down and not upright. If it has been upright, then lay it down before you use it and give the ink time to redistibute to both tips.
2) Don't store your Stampin' Write Markers in direct sunlight or by a heat source. This will prematurely dry them out.
3) Ensure that both of the caps are on tightly when not in use.

If these Storage Tips don't help, then you can always re-ink your Stampin' Write Markers using a few drops of Classic Stampin' Ink Refill of the same color. Gently pull out the Brush Tip of the Stampin' Write Markers and add a couple of drops of Classic Stampin' Ink Refill. Re-insert the Brush Tip and lay it down to redistribute the ink.

Watercolor Paper #105019~ Where Did They Go?

Watercolor Paper #122959

Q: I have been looking for the Smaller Watercolor Paper #105019 and all I can find is the Larger Sheets. Am I overlooking the Smaller Watercolor Paper?

A: The Smaller Watercolor Paper #105019 retired on Jun 30, 2011 and was replaced by the Larger Sheets of Watercolor Paper #122959. It is still the same great quality paper that you love, only in Larger Sheets ~ 5 Sheets in a package, measuring approx. 6" X 9" each.

The Larger Sheets of Watercolor Paper #122959 are perfectly sized to use with Stampin' Up! Letterpress Plates.

If you need a smaller size, you could always cut the Larger Sheets down to the size that you need. The old Watercolor Paper measured 3 3/4" x 5" in case you wanted to know.

Why Are There So Many Stampin’ Up! Catalogues?

2011 Summer Mini Catalogue Expires August 31, 2011

Q: Why does Stampin' Up! releases so many Catalogues and how do I keep track of them?

A: In the world of Rubber Stamping, Scrapbooking and Card Making, the trends of "What's Hot and What's Not" are always changing. By releasing different Catalogues, it helps Stampin' Up! stay on top of the latest thing.

The Idea Book & Catalogue is the staple of Stampin' Up! business and has the tried & true Stamp Sets and Products that we know and love and a sprinkling of the Stamps Sets and Products that they know will become our favorites. The Idea Book & Catalogue comes out in July and runs through to the end of June of the next year. This year, 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue is jammed packed with 241 pages of Samples and Products that live up to our expectations.

The Occasions Mini Catalogue comes out in January and runs through to the end of April.
The Sale-A-Bration comes out in late January and runs through to the end of March.
The Occasions Mini and the Sale-A-Bration Catalogues over laps each other, which make it a very exciting time of year.
The Summer Mini Catalogue comes out in May and runs through to the end of August.
The Holiday Mini Catalogue comes out in September and runs through to the end of December.
This schedule ensures that there is always a Mini Catalogue running at the same time as the main Idea Book & Catalogue.

Please Note: The Catalogue dates will not always start and finish on the same day every year or fall on the first day of the month or go through the last day of the month.  Exact dates are communicated just before the Catalogues are released.

I hope that this answers your question. By following these guidelines I hope it helps you not to miss out on your favorite Products in a Mini Catalogue.

Presently the Summer Mini Catalogue (expires on August 31, 2011) and the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue are in effect. Email me at nancy@nancyfancystamping.com, if you would like a copy of either one or both.

Can I use my Hair Dryer to Emboss?

Heat Tool #100005

Q: I would love to be able to Emboss my Cards. I have seen some Cards that were Embossed and I love that Technique. Can I use my Hair Dryer to Emboss?

A: Unfortunetly your Hair Dryer blows too much air and doesn't have enough heat to melt the Stampin' Emboss Powder. What ends up happening, is you blow all of the Stampin' Emboss Powder off of the Card, before it has a chance to melt/cook.

What you need to use is a Heat Tool #100005. It has 360 Watts to cook the Stampin' Emboss Powder. When you apply this heat, you will see the little granulars start to bubble and melt.
Caution it will be very hot for a moment, after it is first set, so don't touch it. Let it cool first.

Also, you can use the Heat Tool #100005 to melt Heat & Stick Powder and to set Craft Stampin' Ink.

Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock ~ Why Is It More Expensive?

Very Vanilla Card Stock 101650

Q: Why are the packages of Whisper White (#100730) and Very Vanilla (#101650) Card Stock a higher price then the other packages of 8 1/2" x 11" Card Stock?

A: The regular packages contain 24 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" Card Stock for $8.50*, but the Whisper White (#100730) and Very Vanilla (#101650) packages contain 40 sheets for $9.25*. These sheets of Card Stock are actually thinner then the regular sheets, because these colors are primarily used for layering.

Q&A ~ What do I do when I miss part of the stamped image?

Q: I stamped an image and part of the it was missing. What did I do wrong? What do I do?

A: First of all, you have to make sure that the Rubber Stamp is clean of debris and fully inked. Make sure that there isn't any ink where you don't want it. After you ink up the Rubber Stamp, it should be shiny all over the image.

Once it is inked properly, you have to make sure that you stamp it properly. I recommend to stand up when you stamp an image. You can line it up better and apply even pressure. If you are sitting down, you tend to put more pressure on one side of the stamp then the other. This will cause one side to have a darker image, then the other and may cause you to miss parts of the image.

When stamping larger images you have to use your other hand to press all over the entire surface, while holding it with your dominant hand.

If you happen to make a mistake, you can flip the Card Stock over and stamp it again on the other side.

If you stamped the image on the Card Base and you can't flip it over, I suggest to stamp it again and layer it over the mistake.

If all else fails, you can just leave the mistake. It is a Handmade Card and a little mistake is part of its charm. You could be the only one who sees it.  The receiver will be so taken with the fact that you made it, that they may not even notice. Besides it is the thought that counts.

So have fun with Rubber Stamping. That is what it is for and stop fretting that it isn't perfect.
