At a recent Workshop that I held with my Hostess, we were doing a Make 'n Take with the Ornament Stamp from the Tags til Christmas Stamp Set #120847 (Wood Mount) or #121169 (Clear Mount).

We inked up the Ornament Stamp using VersaMark Pad #102283 and poured Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder #109131 over the image, tapped off the excess into a Powder Pal #102197 and heat set it using a Heat Tool #100005. People were having problems with not getting a crisp image.

This is a bold stamp with a lot of rubber that has to be inked up. There is only a small fine line design in the middle of the stamp that is to be clear of VersaMark Ink. If this area get filled with VersaMark Ink, then the Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder #109131 will stick to it. This will cause your image to be blurred.

The VersaMark Pad #102283 is raised and is made of a soft foam. The tendency when you ink up this type of foam pad is to press hard on it to obtain the amount of ink that is required to fully ink up the stamp. A Classic Stampin' Pad is more commonly used to stamp with and it has a cloth surface. You have to use a little bit more pressure to ink up the image; therefore it is a habit to do so when you ink up an image using the VersaMark Pad #102283.

You gently tap the VersaMark Pad #102283 to the stamp. Stop and check to make sure there is enough ink on the stamp and to make sure that there isn't any ink where you don't want it, before you stamp the image.  If you need more ink, then repeat this process. This is a good practice whenever you are inking up a stamp in general.

If the image is inked up properly, it will appear completely shiny.

If you are stamping a number of images to do multiple cards, then you should clean the stamp on a regular basis. This will also help maintain a crisp image.
